I hung out in the weeds on one of the back corners of this race trying to get some cool panning shots as the racers came around. I think, in retrospect, I should have had my shutter about 1/20th of a second faster. I was shooting about 1/60th of a second and there’s just a bit too much motion blur. I think the other trick to a good shot here is finding the right place on the corner &emdash; the arc of the riders coming at you and pushing away is really emphasized with the wide angle lens.
I counted this image a keeper for the juxtaposition of blue yellow throughout and the sharp focus on the cog.
