Autumn has set in. Leaves are turning yellow and falling off the trees. Getting excited for snow.
This is an older photograph from the archives, taken out of my apartment window in Portland. I deliberately shot this out of focus — cranking the manual focus until I liked the bokeh — in an effort to blur together the gamut of color on this tree which ranged from a dark orange through bright yellow and on into lime green and black. By so radically manipulating the focus the photo turned out more gestural and emotional than it otherwise would have. There is a great deal of implied shape and line brought together by blocks of color. Kind of a photographic interpretation of impressionism.
