a dark blue creek spills through a wasteland of brown in yellowstone national park

Yellowstone Park Creek

Posted on

A shot of a creek just inside Yellowstone National Park’s Gardiner Entrance. Shot on film and scanned in. I can’t remember the film specifically, I think it was Kodak color-negative film though. I read somewhere that for scanning negative will hold a larger density range than positive, which makes sense I suppose, my scanner’s so low-end that it probably doesn’t matter though :)

  • I love the stunning overall soft touch to this image. Its bliss.

  • Wonderful scenery.
It’s amazing to see how colorful nature can be, all in one frame. From yellow to green, from life to death.
    Awesome.

  • earlier today i was reading a guy on flickr complaining about the work his $2000 scanner was doing for him. perhaps scanning like printing is fraught with frustrations.

anyway i love the T composition on this. and the colors are cool too. looks like there was a burn there once.

  • Would love to visit Yellowstone. What a beautiful capture, great low angle view with the creek flowing through this image. Excellent composition.

  • Yellowstone is on our list too…. and even more now! Soft and tranquil and still crisp and clear.
    Well done!

  • I like the orientation you chose for this shot.. beautiful shot.. :)
