Delicate Arch, just before sunset on a smoky summer afternoon. Arches National Park, Utah. It was a totally hot day and my whole goal in visiting the park was to get here, which was the only thing in Utah I was familiar with. It’s about a 30 minute hike out to this vantage, which I did in flip flops — passing the annoying city-bred tourists who had no trail etiquette with difficulty. There were maybe 100 people around the arch, waiting for sunset. Lots of people kept going down to have their photo taken with it, this turns out to be one of those shots I took while someone was standing underneath. I took off just before sunset since I didn’t have a tripod, or headlamp, or the patience to maneuver between everyone to the really awesome vantage further up the basin.
