lights from the grouse mountain ski area light up a hilltop above north vancouver

Grouse Mountain

Posted on | Shot on at 17:00:00

Looking across the Burrard Inlet from Canada Place at North Vancouver and Grouse Mountain. The lights on Grouse Mountain seemed to loom over the rest of the city. The night before (a dark, overcast, snowy night) I had been walking through the Grandview District and was looking straight at the run that is lit up. The lights make a kind of 'T’ shape and I couldn’t for the life of me tell what it was looming over the city.

  • so those lights is sort of like a city on top of the mountain? pretty cool how the mountains are still discernible despite the dark.. nice shot! :)

  • @Rian I believe its more of a lighted run for night skiing actually

  • it is indeed a lighted run for night skiing. i grew up at the base of Grouse Mtn and when i was a kid and we went for a long drive (often) and came home after dark i used to look for those lights as a sign we were back in the city.

this is a lovely image – of course full of feeling for me.
