On the top of the Baxter Hotel in downtown Bozeman is a blue light that flashes whenever it’s snowing at Bridger Bowl, the local’s ski area. It was going to town last evening as it had been snowing all day long.
Initially the blurryness of this image confounded me. When I zoomed in and checked it is pretty sharp. After looking at the area around the light I believe that the cause is two-fold: 1) the ISO1600 setting on the Canon Rebel XTi creates fairly blotchy images, 2) the falling snow is blurring the image. I didn’t realize number 2 until I loaded in some images I had taken earlier in the evening before the sun had set. You could just makeout the sign through the falling snow. What I think is going on here is that the snow is falling just as densely as it was earlier in the evening although you can’t tell because of the darkness.
