I recently got to take a quick trip to Chicago. I spent a good deal of time downtown and was mildly obsessed with the 'L’ trains which for me, having not been to Chicago before, pretty much summed up what I expected of the city’s experience. This was near Columbia college, which is about as detailed a description as I can provide. It’s probably the Red line.
I solarized the image to get a bit more out of it. Solarizing added a bit of gritty oldness to it — which is what I really wanted to find in Chicago. Brick and steel and fedoras. I was mildly disappointed in that regards. More ballcaps than anything else headgear wise. There was still an amazing amount of brick and steel amongst the newer buildings however.
The light in Chicago wasn’t especially spectacular during most of the time that I had to take photos and as a result I wound up focusing more on the composition and shooting black and white at least as often as color.
