I405 Portland
Posted on | Shot on at 00:00:00
I was going through my photo archive a couple nights ago looking for pictures to post from my previously rejected pile and this one jumped out at me. Its a shot of I405 as it goes through downtown Portland and enters the Pearl District. I shot it walking home one night from school. The Art Institute and my apartment were within 2 blocks of either side of I5 so I walked up and down it a lot.
I believe this was a winter night — with heavy Portland clouds full of moisture reflecting the city lights — although I don’t believe it was raining.
I shot a couple of photos from the overpass while playing with the focus. This is one of the photos I deliberately pushed out of focus. I like how that changed the colors, increasing the saturation and brightening the scene as a whole. I’ve shot a lot of these sort of impressionistic photos, some have been more successful than others. I think this one was a success myself.
