white buiilding with a red roof and a well-manicured yard in wailuku on maui

Woke up thinking about Maui this morning, although, in Bozeman it is 0° F and snowing heavily.

This is a government building on High Street in Wailuku which sits between Kahului and the Iao Valley where the Iao Needle is. We came through right around the lunch hour which you can maybe tell from the sky. High street had some amazing whitewashed architecture dating back to what I assume is the 40’s or 50’s — a church, library, and this building all sit next to each other over an expanse of a couple of blocks.

  • what a better way to forget the snow & cold than to reminisce about maui.. :D nice shot..

  • The sky color is so deep here… A beautiful place to be, and a nice shot.

  • again something very cinematic going on when you photograph old houses. this one reminds me of Gone With the Wind. did i just say that? well i saw it when i was like 3 okay.

  • Nice shot – I love Maui, and Wailuku’s got a great feel. Love the Waiehu golf course in Wailuku – great oceanfront golf for less than $50/round – can’t beat it!
