three bison in yellowstone national park taking a dust bath

Yellowstone Bison

Posted on | Shot on at 11:23:43

We took our inaugural trip down to Yellowstone National Park this weekend. There were a bunch of bison near the main roads this time. Here 3 bison are taking a dust bath. Apparently this is part of the process of removing their winter coats. Many of the bison we saw were molting. Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming, somewhere between West Yellowstone and Old Faithful.

Ironically enough, my PhotoFriday challenge response for today is an earlier image from Yellowstone as well.
